PC KRU (Rafa) Rafael

Poo Choi Kru

BIO

My passion is watching students discover they are capable of far more than they ever imagined

Kru Rafa’s passion for teaching comes from one place: watching students discover they’re capable of far more than they ever imagined. He describes it as “watching a baby grow into a lion”. That transformation when someone steps into the gym nervous and unsure, then gradually builds into a confident, powerful fighter.

Having started at 5 years old and fought his first bout at 6, Kru Rafa has literally been in his students’ shoes since childhood. He knows the fear before a first fight, the frustration of a technique that won’t click, and the joy of finally understanding a technique. He uses those experiences to guide every beginner through their journey.

His teaching philosophy is simple but deep: build people who are stronger mentally, physically, and spiritually. His authentic teaching comes from his own trials: whether it’s breaking down techniques he learned facing Thai fighters with 300+ bouts or drawing on the mental toughness it took to fight (and win) just one week after surviving dengue fever.

What Kru Rafa wants students to take away goes beyond punches and kicks; it’s the unshakeable character, mental toughness, and the self-belief that comes from pushing past your limits in Muay Thai.
